Welcome to our 2022 Sketch and Scribble event at the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney Washed out again!

On Sunday May 29th, we will host another Sketch and Scribble, this time in the grounds of the beautiful Royal Botanic Garden Sydney. This event is for children’s book writers and illustrators and is designed so we can exercise our creativity and connect with other SCBWI members.

Members of the SCBWI team will lead you to various points of interest in the garden and will provide a prompt/fascinating fact/story or what if to inspire ideas for you to create. You can follow the group and use the writing and sketching prompts  or you can do your own thing. There are no rules. Use the prompts, ignore them, or rearrange them in any way you wish.

In addition to the prompts, we will be observing our surroundings – architecture, people, setting and views – using all five senses and capturing as much as possible through writing and/or sketching.  After these prompts we will find a spot, sometimes together, sometimes apart, to write or draw our impressions for 15- 20 minutes or so.

Towards the end of the day we will share our creations.
