It’s finally here! The program for the Sydney SCBWI International Conference and we’re very excited! You’ll have the chance to meet and network with local and international professionals, to hear from agents, editors and publishers, to have your artwork seen by the very best in the kids’ book world.
Here are some highlights:
• Keynote speech by US Agent Essie White and Australian author, Rachel Noble.
• Julia Marshall from Gecko, NZ Best Publisher of the Year and Bologna Best publisher of the Year
• US editor and art director, Mira Reisberg, Vivian Kirkfield, acclaimed US blogger
• Face-to-face manuscript and portfolio critiques
• Illustrator Showcase including the HarperCollins Illustrator Showcase Award and the Penguin Random House Illustrator Showcase Award
• International distance critiques with commissioning editors and agents from high profile US publishing houses
• Pitch to Publisher Panel
A unique aspect of this conference is the chance to build your own program. Alongside the main program, you can also choose an author or illustrator lunch session, local and international manuscript critiques, an optional dinner dance and Master Classes.
We’re also very pleased to bring back the Illustrator Showcase, an exclusive event, where SCBWI members showcase their artwork to leading professionals from the children’s book industry. At the 2016 SCBWI showcase, more than fifty publishers, editors, designers and other industry professionals viewed the exhibition resulting in contracts for new and established illustrators.
It’s not all about work, of course! There’ll be lots of chatting, celebrating, networking and a chance to let your hair down at the fabulous SCBWI dinner dance party on the Monday night.
Tickets are limited and sell fast, so book early, but if you aren’t able to make it, our Roving Reporters do a fabulous job recording everything that happens on our website, Facebook page and blog, so you wont miss out.
